- Our mission is to alleviate poverty and reduce ecological damage by teaching marginalized people living in rural areas to enhance their resilience, incomes, and living standards through sustainable agriculture, education, skills development, and new business ventures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Research and identify at least 1000 organizations, including government agencies, foundations, and other funding sources, that align with RUWAI’s mission and programs.
- Develop a comprehensive database of potential funders, including contact information, funding priorities, and application deadlines.
- Write and submit at least 100 grant applications to mission-aligned funding organizations, ensuring alignment with RUWAI’s programs and priorities.
- Write and submit at least 100 letters of introduction to potential funders, introducing RUWAI’s mission and requesting funding or partnership opportunities.
- Collaborate with the Executive Director and program staff to ensure that grant proposals and letters of introduction effectively communicate RUWAI’s impact and funding needs.
- Provide daily progress reports to the Executive Director, including updates on research findings, grant submissions, and any correspondence with funders.
- Monitor responses from funders and follow up as needed to provide additional information or clarify questions.
- Assist with other fundraising activities and special projects as assigned by the Executive Director.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., nonprofit management, communications, accounting, public administration) required; Master’s degree preferred.
- At least 5 years of experience in grant writing, fundraising, or nonprofit development, with a proven track record of securing funding from a variety of sources.
- Strong online research skills and the ability to identify and evaluate potential funding opportunities.
- Excellent writing skills with the ability to craft compelling grant proposals, technical writing, editing, letters of introduction, and other fundraising materials.
- Highly organized and detail-oriented, with attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, email marketing, budgeting, and experience with grant management software or databases.
- Excellent communication, storytelling, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and interact professionally with funders.
- Ability to work independently and remotely, with a strong sense of initiative and self-motivation.
- Commitment to RUWAI’s mission and values, with a passion for rural development and social justice.
- Experience with agriculture, sustainability, or environmental initiatives is a plus
